Dr Graeme Codrington Abbreviated CV As at July 2015 Dr Graeme Codrington is an expert on the future world of work and the disruptive forces that are shaping it. As an author and researcher, his insights and analysis are sought after by business schools and CEOs around the world, with five degrees, five best selling books and a full-time research team at his company, TomorrowToday, to back it up. Graeme works as a Board advisor, strategist, and as a keynote presenter and facilitator, using multimedia, a gently rebuking humour and an engaging style to make his insights accessible and inspiring. Director, Centre for Education Practice Research (CEPR), Soweto Campus, University of Johannesburg.South Africa Research Chair (SARChI): Integrated Studies of Learning Language, Science and Mathematics in the Primary School. Professor Henning is professor of Educational Linguistics and the founding director of the CEPR on the Soweto campus of the University of Johannesburg. She was awarded a Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship by the National Academy of Education in the USA for her research on teacher development in informal settlement communities in Gauteng in the 1990’s She is a Fellow of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and is a B-rated researcher in the National Research Foundation (NRF) system of researcher evaluation in South Africa. She leads studies of teacher education programmes and mathematical cognition of children in the early grades well as reading as learning of children in the upper primary school. She is the founding editor of the journal, Education as Change, and the current editor of the South African Journal of Childhood Education. She was awarded a South Africa Research Chair by the National Research Foundation and the Department of Science and Technology in 2015.
Lucien is a director at PPM Attorneys. He thoroughly enjoys advising clients on transactional, commercial, regulatory and compliance aspects of information and communications technology (ICT), data protection and information security law. Lucien was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa on 16 May 1997. He then spent two years in London where he was seconded to telecommunications, media and technology (TMT) law firm, Bird & Bird, and global telco – Cable & Wireless Communications. He joined Webber Wentzel’s TMT department in 2000 before leaving to start PPM in 2004. Lucien has represented and represents organisations such as the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa, China Telecom, Siyaya TV, Comservice Solutions, African Oxygen and Anglo American on ICT and information security matters. Lucien sits on the Disciplinary Committee of South Africa’s Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors, is a member of the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession and is a Board member of the International Social Media Association.Lucien enjoys the great outdoors. He loves mountain biking and has participated in stage races such as the Swazi Frontier. He has trekked to Everest Base Camp and has summited Mt Elbrus in Russia. He would be very pleased if a client was willing to pay for the costs of travelling to consult at the summit of Aconcagua.
Mpho Segolela is the Head of Operations @ Code for Change. Being interested in technology, Mpho Joined the ICT sector in 2005 working as a support technical within the banking industries. He was later introduced to the education side of ICT as a facilitator in one of the leading radio frequency engineering companies, it is from that training background that he dwelled more into the Ed-Tech space and subsequently started working with Non-profits in advocating for Tech Education specifically the advancement of computer science education within South Africa’s basic education system.
Mpho holds a degree in Computer science and a number of vendor certifications i.e. Cisco/CompTIA/Microsoft. He has 13 years’ of experience working in the ICT sector, 7 of which has been in the Ed-Tech space. He is currently head of Operations at Code for Change and heads up the organisation’s education and policy recommendations in collaboration with the South African Department of Basic Education (DBE), the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE), the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services (DTPS) and its corporate partners.
He is a father to two beautiful girls aged 9 and 3 and enjoys gardening to balance out the over exposure to all things “Tech”.
An accountant by profession, got into teaching to spend more time with my own children. Currently, a teacher and coach at the Steve Jobs School in Ruimsig. Interested in the psychology of children and how they learn. Discovered a passion for teaching and making a difference in the lives of Primary school children. Interested in youth development and the upliftment of disadvantaged communities.
Ylva Rodny-Gumede is Professor in the School of Communication at the University of Johannesburg and a Senior Associate Researcher with the Stanhope Centre for International Communications Policy Research at the London School of Economics. She holds a PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London University as well as an MA degree in Politics from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa and an MA in Journalism from Cardiff University in the U.K. Ylva is a former journalist and has also worked in marketing and PR. In addition, she has consulted for several government, private and academic institutions in Europe and Southern Africa on issues concerning media and democracy, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education, and the SADC Parliamentary Forum. Ylva holds a C 3 rating from the South African National Research Foundation (NRF) and is the current President of the South African Communications and Media Association (SACOMM).
Prof Rodny-Gumede has published a number of articles on the effect of the 4th Industrial Revolution on journalism and communication.
